Kauai Wedding
Hi, My name is Ely Roberts and I have been a wedding photographer since 2008 and this is my first Kauai wedding. I am now obsessed with this place, and I can’t wait to photograph another beautiful couple in this magical place. Carolyn and Ash are from Seattle, WA, and chose Kauai to escape the onsetting October winter weather back home. Keep scrolling to see this 3-day event, most of which took place in two venues on the southern side of the island in Poipu.
Getting Ready Villas at Poipu Kai

Carolyn and Ash rented out two beautiful apartments at The Villas at Poipu Kai. This was a great location for all of their families to stay and made for a wonderful getting-ready scene.
Wedding Portraits at Shipwreck’s Beach
After getting ready Carolyn and Ash met up at Shipwreck’s Beach for their first look. Shipwereck’s is near Poipu Beach and has some amazing terrain. From a relaxing sandy shore to some beautiful cliffs overlooking the crashing waves. There is also a good amount of shady areas for those mid-day photo sessions. I do recommend your couples bring their favorite pair of sunglasses though.
The Beach House Resturant
With over 1300 google reviews and an almost 5-star rating, The Beach House Resturant Kauai wedding venue is serving up some of the best seafood around. So this is where Carolyn and Ash chose to host their wedding ceremony and reception. They chose to buy out the restaurant for the evening so they could enjoy their reception in peace.
When you have your ceremony at the Beach House Resturant, you will have the property to yourselves, but there will certainly be surfers in the background enjoying the waves.
I always get excited when I get to take a photo of everyone at the wedding. Especially when the venue keeps a 12-foot ladder on had for you.
These are some of my favorite portraits’ hands down. There’s one thing you can count on in Kauai and that is that you’re probably going to get a beautiful sunset.
The Kauai Beach House put together a wonderful reception for these two. The food was delicious and the setting was just perfect. If you’re planning a Kauai wedding, be sure to put this place on your list to visit.
Waimea Canyon Portraits
So going back in time to the first day, we headed up Waimea Canyon for some pre-wedding sunrise portraits. I couldn’t believe how beautiful and unique this landscape was. I was in awe of the photos we were able to get out here.
After a few portraits, some of Carolyn and Ash’s family and friends met up with them for a hike down to the falls. 
This place is stunning and would make for a wonderful location for a small wedding, elopement, or some epic engagement photos.
Plantation Garden Dinner
That night after the hike, Ash’s Parents hosed a wonderful Indian dinner at the Plantation Garden Resturant.
Carolyn and Ash dressed in some traditional attire and celebrated Ash’s Indian heritage. Their friends and family joined in as well. We also got to head out to the beach for my first Kauai sunset photo shoot. I still can’t believe how consistent these sunsets are.
So. In conclusion, you should get married in Kauai and you should have me photograph your adventure.
