About Me

The Quick

I’ve been a wedding and portrait photographer since 2008 and have loved every minute of it. I love being married, and I love seeing other couples celebrating their love for each other. I have been photographing weddings and elopements in Bend, Oregon since 2015, and I am always amazed at Bend’s natural beauty.

Looking forward to getting to know you! If you would like to know more about me, you can follow Abby and me on Facebook and Instagram.

How I got into Photography

From the years 2000 to 2006, I traveled several times to Africa and the Philippines. Every couple of years I would buy a new camera, but all were very sub-par. In 2006 I finally upgraded to a professional Digital SLR and I was hooked. Now that photography crossed over to my geeky computer side it was a perfect mix. Over the years I have photographed well over 650 weddings and haven’t stopped learning. There is always room to grow and new equipment to play with.

Why I love Photographing People

I will occasionally take landscape photos but I find photographing people much more rewarding. Whether I am photographing a wedding, elopement, or engagement, no shoot is the same. There are always so many factors from the weather, location, time of year, to couples dynamics. This allows me to continually feel inspired and be creative.

I also love getting to know and learning about my clients. It is always fun to hear where they come from and how they met. In college, I studied Sociology with an emphasis on Criminal Justice.

My Goal as a Photographer

Most days I am photographing couples on the most important day of their lives. My goal is to get to know my clients, so I can best serve them. Getting to know my clients and their families allows me to better capture those special moments throughout the day. On a wedding day, I photograph as much as possible and sort the important images out when getting them home on my computer. Ideally, I want to be comfortable with me following you around for a whole day and that you are more than happy with all the photos that I’ve captured for you on your amazing day.

My Style

I am a pretty relaxed guy and I want my clients to feel comfortable, but well served. I want them to have a good time and get the best photos possible. Over the last13 years, I have developed what I call my style. I would hope that every image that I produce has a timeless feel.
For example, I want my clients to look back on their wedding photos and feel the same emotions as they did on the best day of their lives.

Since moving to Bend I have been exploring Oregon to find more adventurous locations to photograph couples. We are fortunate to have an endless supply of trees, lakes, mountains, and a beautiful coastline. It is my goal to always be on the hunt for a new location or learn how to capture an old one from a different perspective.

This site is filled with dozens of Weddings, Elopements, Engagement, and Portrait Sessions that show my style. If you are at all interested in seeing some full weddings or engagements head to the bottom of the page and shoot me an email. For now please click around and get to know me and my work. My Photography Philosophy

Since my first wedding in 2006, I have photographed over 650 weddings and countless portrait sessions. In that time I have used several cameras and photographed around the world. In that time, I have learned how to work with light to make for the best images in any scenario. Knowing that every wedding, engagement, or portrait session will be different, I have to be prepared to work in any situation.

One thing I love about my job is that I get to work with people. As a sociology major, I have always been interested in where people come from and what makes them happy. I enjoy getting to know my clients, so I can better serve them whether it’s the most important day of their lives or them in the company of their loved ones.

Lastly, I love the art of photography, so I am constantly learning how to better my craft. From camera equipment and post-processing to learning how to better make my clients feel more comfortable behind the camera. I know that I can always improve and love that my job has no creative ceiling.

My Family

The day before I met my wife I didn’t know she existed. The day after I met my wife I was obsessed with her and started dating her. We were married 18 months after we met and have been married since August of 2011. I still love every minute that I get to spend with her and she’s truly my best friend. As of January of 2018, we were blessed with a little girl that we have had the time of our lives with. Watching her grow has just been amazing. We also have a Great Dane that hangs out on the couch and cuddles all day then keeps us on our toes in the evening by bouncing around the house.

Bonus Family info. I’m the oldest of four boys and I love my brothers a ton. Oh, and my parents followed me to Bend.

What I do for fun

Aside from Photography, I try to spend as much time as I can outside, hiking, camping, hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles, and traveling when we can. Part of why we moved to Bend, is because we pretty much get to live in the woods. We are 15 minutes from the Deschutes River and 30 minutes from several beautiful mountains and lakes. When I’m not outside I also love cooking. Preparing food is my other creative outlet and I find it relaxing. Plus side, most of my food turns out good.

Enough about me. Head over to my contact page and tell me more about you.
