I’ve been a wedding photographer since 2008 and have loved every minute of it. I love being married and I love seeing other couples celebrating their love for each other. I have been photographing weddings and elopements in Bend, Oregon since 2015 and I am always amazed at Bend’s natural beauty.
How I got into Photography
From the years of 2000-2006, I traveled several times to Africa and the Philippines. Every couple of years I would buy a new camera, but all very sub par. In 2006 I finally upgraded to a Digital SLR and I was hooked. Now that photography crossed over to my geeky computer side it was a perfect mix. Over the years I have photographed well over 300 weddings and haven’t stopped learning. There is always room to grow and new equipment to play with.
Why I love Photographing People
I will occasionally take landscape photos but I find photographing people much more rewarding. Whether I am photographing a wedding, elopement, or engagement, no shoot is the same. There are always so many factors from the weather, location, time of year, to couples dynamics. This allows me to continually feel inspired and be creative.
I also love getting to know and learning about my clients. It is always fun to hear where they come from and how they met. In college, I studied Sociology with an emphasis on Criminal Justice.
My Goal as a Photographer
Most of the time I am photographing coupes on the most important day of their lives. So my goal is to get to know my clients, so I can best serve them. By getting to know my clients and their families it allows me to better capture those special moments throughout the day. On a wedding day, I photograph as much as possible and sort the important images out when getting them home on my computer. Ideally, I want to to be comfortable with me following you around for a whole day and that you are more than happy with all the photos that I’ve captured for you on your amazing day.
When photographing couples and weddings, my goal is to capture natural moments and my subjects being themselves. Occasionally I will place couples in positions for the best lighting and pose when necessary. I process my images in a way that I hope is timeless, so that couples look back on their photos for years and enjoy their best memories.
The day before I met my wife I didn’t know she existed. The day after I met my wife I was obsessed with her and started dating her. We were married 18 months after we met and have been married since August of 2011. I still love every minute that I get to spend with her and she’s truly my best friend. As of January of 2018, we were blessed with a little girl that we have had the time of our lives with. Watching her grow has just been amazing. We also have a Great Dane that hangs out on the couch and cuddles all day then keeps us on our toes in the evening by bouncing around the house.
Bonus Family info. I’m the oldest of four Boys and I love my brothers a ton. Oh, and both of my parents followed me to Bend.
What I do for fun
Aside from Photography, I try to spend as much time as I can outside, hiking, camping, hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles, and traveling when we can. Part of why we moved to Bend, is because we pretty much get to live in the woods. We are 15 minutes from the Deschutes River and 30 minutes from several beautiful mountains and lakes. When I’m not outside I also love cooking. For some reason, it’s my other creative outlet and finds it relaxing. Plus side, most of my food turns out good.
