Proxy Falls Engagement Photos | Hillary & Nate

Hillary and Nate left Portland at 5 a.m. for their Proxy Falls engagement photos. I met them at the trail, and we headed out to the falls together. I’m so glad they were up for an adventure.

The photos tell the story: tall trees, bright green forest, a little sunlight through the branches, and the two of them beneath the waterfall. I love the mix of wide views that show the setting and closer portraits that keep the focus on Hillary and Nate.

Planning engagement photos at Proxy Falls

These photographs are from the original session shared in 2016. Use them for inspiration, and check current conditions before making travel plans.

• Check both the road and the trail. McKenzie Highway (OR 242) is seasonal. Check ODOT’s McKenzie Highway updates and TripCheck for your route, along with Willamette National Forest alerts for closures. An open highway does not guarantee trail access.
• Plan for the terrain. Wear shoes with good traction and bring a layer for time near the water. Wet rocks and logs can be slippery. We can talk through your comfort with walking and choose a setting that suits you; you don’t need to recreate a particular pose or spot from this gallery.
• Leave room for a backup plan. Road access, weather, and trail conditions can change. Before settling on a location, confirm current parking, wilderness-entry, and photography requirements with the Forest Service. Stay on permitted routes and leave plants and moss undisturbed.
