If you are wondering where to Elope in Oregon, this is one amazing location. Broken Top Mountian is one hour drive from Bend, followed by an hour-long hike.
Callie and Johnathan planned to hike to Broken Top Mountian to share their elopement with some of their closest friends. They started with a rugged drive up a mountain in their Subaru. Once the reached the trailhead, they packed up some wine, beer, dinner and then started their hike up the mountain. The hike only took about an hour and we reached the top just as the sun hit the peak. The rest you can check out your self. I’ll include more info about how and when to hike Broken top below. Also, you can call me for details anytime.
2021 Permit Update
Permits are now required to hike in the wilderness (from May 28th – September 24th). Which includes Broken Top. Permits are released 7 days prior at 7 am. Head here to plan how to grab your permit.
If you are looking to hike Broken Top or any of the nearby mountains, you can start as early as June. The main access is most likely open around mid-August, depending on the prior winter. The Broken Top trailhead is one hour from downtown Bend and a 4×4 or all-wheel drive vehicle is highly recommended (or I can drive you). Your party can not exceed 12 people and you must fill out a form at the trailhead. You can also hike as late as November, again depending on the when the snow starts falling.
