Painted Hills Engagement
Here is a wonderful engagement session from the Painted Hills. Also, here is some info you may want to know when planning your trip to this National Monument.
Why you should go to the Painted Hills
Because it’s amazing! If you haven’t been here yet, you need to put it on your list of places to go for sure. These hills are otherworldly. It’s probably as close as we will all get to mars. The colors are just stunning and there are endless opportunities for engagement or elopement portraits.
Where is the Painted Hills?
The painted Hills is two hours east of Bend, Oregon, which makes it pretty much in the middle of nowhere. You’ll definitely want to pack a lunch and maybe some beers and set aside a full day for your trip.
Once you get there you will be greeted will first see the Painted Hills Overlook. The overlook is probably one of the best views in the area. After you pass the overlook you have a couple more options. I really like the wood path Painted Cove Trail. You can also visit the Red Hill Trail at the end of the road.
When is a good time visit the Hills?
My favorite time of day to photograph at the Painted Hills is right before and after sunset.
Winter can be pretty cold out there and your shooting times will be a bit shorter due to a faster sunset. Although. there’s hardly anyone visiting the hills in the winter.
Other things to know.
Be sure to follow the Rules. There are plenty of signs that tell you where you can and can’t walk. There are plenty of places to take amazing portraits. And the places you can’t get close to challenge you to get creative. It is pretty well stated that this is a No Drone Zone.
Who is this Darn Good Looking Couple?
This tall guy is Matt. He is the son of my dad’s best friend from High School and I have known Matt since he was a couple of feet tall. Matt and I have been hunting together for years and this beautiful girl on his arm is Allysa. They both live here in Bend and are celebrating their local wedding this August.
