Bend Winter Wedding

If you’re planning a Winter Wedding near Bend, Oregon you should check out this wedding venue and portrait location options. Virginia Meissner and Hollinshead barn are both nice and cozy.

Starting in the middle of November, Bend will start to see some snow hitting the Cascade mountains. There might even be a little bit of snow in town. Snow will continue to fall in town until the end of February and the up in the mountains you are pretty much guaranteed to find snow until sometime in April.

Once you are in Bend there are several snow parks within 30 minutes. Virginia Meissner is a starting point for many cross country skiers and has a nice cozy little cabin stocked with firewood and wood burning stove. If you have a very small winter wedding in Bend and you are looking for a place to keep warm before or after your ceremony it’s perfect. Note that weekends can be very busy. The photos below were taken on a Monday and we had the cabin to ourselves.

If you are planning for a larger wedding group, then Hollinshead Barn is located in the city of Bend and the venue is run by Bend Parks and Recreation. Their prices are very reasonable (located in the link above) and the barn is beautiful. I do highly recommend renting lighting from Illuminate Your Night to brighten up the interior and adjusting the lights inside to suit your ceremony setup.

Portraits of a Bride and Groom covered in Snow near Bend Oregon.
When we arrived at Virginia Meisner snow park, it was snowing really hard, so used this snow hut to keep warm between portraits.
This is a great winter wedding or elopement location. If you can brave the cold weather, nothing beats portraits in the snow. From the soft light to the romantic snowflakes photos come out magical. More Weddings
